Ingredients

1 whole bangus (cleaned and sliced) or bangus belly

4 cups water

1 thumb-sized ginger, sliced

2 stalks lemongrass, pounded

3 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 small onion, sliced
-
2 tomatoes, quartered
-
3-5 pcs chili (adjust to spice preference)
-
200g mushrooms
-
2 tbsp fish sauce
-
2 tbsp Tom Yum paste
-
1 tbsp calamansi or lime juice
-
1 tsp sugar (optional)
-
Fresh cilantro or spring onions for garnish
Cooking Instructions

In a pot, sauté garlic, onion and ginger until fragrant

Add water, lemongrass, tomatoes, and mushrooms. Let it simmer for 8-10 minutes.

Stir in the Tom Yum paste and fish sauce
-
Add the bangus slices and cook for about 8-10 minutes or until fully cooked.

Add chili and sugar if desired.

Turn off the heat, then add calamansi or lime juice
-
Garnish with cilantro or spring onions before serving.

Serve hot with steamed rice for a comforting and flavorful meal.
